RAILWAKE

The first 3D interactive idle game.

An idle game you actually watch.

Railwake is an idle game with a world in it. Fit out an armoured train, pick a line from the ladder, press Depart, and it rides itself — across fourteen biomes, past wonders, through tunnels — while its guns pick off whatever climbs aboard. Every run ends, at the end of the line or under a pile of bodies, and pays out.

Gold is for this run. Scrip is forever.

What is in it

A world, not a backdrop

Fourteen biomes from a seed, the line cut into them: climbs, bridges, bores where the sky disappears and the train is the only light. Fourteen wonders out there.

A hundred-rung ladder

Every rung is a line. Five hand-laid, the rest generated harder and longer, up to level 100. Farm the one below; that is the design.

Two shops, one rule

Gold buys upgrades in the Depot while you ride, gone when the run ends. Scrip buys the Armoury's, which keep. Leftover gold becomes scrip.

Bosses, gems, Cores

A boss every tenth rung pays in gems. Gems open an element — fire, ice, lightning, earth, toxic, void — and you fit it to a weapon type.

Seven special attacks

One unlocks per boss clear. Two slots, free to swap, a tap in a fight.

Enemies board

They catch the train, climb on and bite. Speed throws them off, ramming grinds them down, thorns pay them back.

The line

What this is, honestly

A free web alpha. It saves in your browser, it needs no account, and it has been played by one person: the person who wrote it. The point of putting it in front of you is to find out whether the loop holds when someone else is holding it. If you play a run, the thing that helps most is telling us where it stopped being interesting.
